After six years on Going Live!, where many of their memorable characters and catchphrases entered the national consciousness, Trevor Neal and Simon Hickson, better known as Trevor and Simon, were invited to join the team of a new Saturday morning kids' show that promised to be as equally successful as its predecessor.
Live & Kicking began in 1993 and ran for eight years, before being cancelled in 2001. As it carried on many of the features associated with Going Live! - phone-ins, competitions, cartoons etc. - it seemed only natural to keep faith with Trevor and Simon - a duo who knew exactly what they were doing and who could always guarantee laughs.
The programme was initially presented by Andi Peters and Emma Forbes, who had previously demonstrated their cooking skills on a regular cooking segment on Going Live!. After their departure in 1996, Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakston took over until 1999. Other famous names that fronted the show during its long existence included future Torchwood star John Barrowman, Katy Hill, Emma Ledden, Trey Farley and Peter Simon.
