Xbox Jaws Unleashed

2010 was a poor year for science fiction fans. There were some highlights, including the superb Mass Effect 2 game for PC and Xbox 360 and the movies Inception and Tron: Legacy, but these were few and far between and the cancellation of two fledgling science fiction TV shows, Caprica and Stargate: Universe, added even further misery.

Fortunately, 2011 looks like being considerably better on all fronts with a great selection of science fiction books, games, TV shows and movies already announced and with surely more still to follow.

Here's just a selection of what to look forward to...

Books

The year kicks off with a most unlikely pairing - best selling SF author Greg Bear writing a novel based upon the biggest games franchise on the Xbox. Halo: Cryptum is the first of a new trilogy of books set 100,000 years ago that tell the story of the Forerunners, the alien civilization that built the Halos. Books based upon video games are rarely best sellers but this Halo novel could be an exception.
